Description
A delicious and hearty chili made with ground beef, beans, and spices.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 ribs celery, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chiles
- 1 can (15 oz) red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup water or beef broth
Instructions
- In a large Dutch oven or heavy pot, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add chopped onion, celery, and green bell pepper. Cook for 5 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook 1 more minute.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes with green chiles.
- Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, and sugar. Mix well.
- Stir in kidney beans, pinto beans, and water or broth.
- Bring to a low boil, then reduce heat and simmer covered for at least 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- Can be served with cornbread or over rice for a complete meal.
- Adjust spices to taste for a milder or spicier chili.
