Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup flavor add-ins (nuts, dried fruits, or spices like cinnamon)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: If you’re using store-bought cookie dough, let it soften at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes. This will make it easier to work with.
  2. Roll Out the Pie Crust: On a lightly floured surface, roll out your pie crust to about 1/8 inch thick. Use a round cutter to cut out circles, approximately 4-5 inches in diameter.
  3. Add the Cookie Dough: Place a tablespoon of cookie dough in the center of each pie crust circle. Don’t overfill, as it can leak out during cooking.
  4. Seal the Pies: Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges firmly to seal, and then crimp with a fork for a decorative touch.
  5. Prepare the Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and a splash of water. Brush the egg wash over the top of each hand pie for a golden finish.
