Description

A delicious apple tart with a buttery crust and homemade caramel sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups almond flour
  • 1/4 cup tapioca flour
  • 3 tablespoons coconut sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 medium apples (peeled, cored, thinly sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (divided)
  • 3 tablespoons butter (for caramel)
  • 1/3 cup coconut sugar (for caramel)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, combine almond flour, tapioca flour, coconut sugar, and salt. Add melted butter and beaten egg. Mix until dough forms.
  2. Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan evenly and prick the base with a fork. Pre-bake for 10 minutes.
  3. Toss sliced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. Layer over pre-baked crust in a spiral pattern.
  4. Bake tart for 25–30 minutes until apples are soft and golden at the edges.
  5. In a saucepan, melt 3 tablespoons butter and 1/3 cup coconut sugar. Stir until bubbly (about 3 minutes).
  6. Add heavy cream slowly, stir for 2 minutes, then remove from heat. Stir in remaining vanilla and pinch of salt.
  7. Let tart cool for 10 minutes. Drizzle warm caramel on top. Serve warm or chilled.
